DAVID FLETCHER
I graduated with an Architectural Engineering degree from Kennesaw State University (formally Southern Technical Institute) in 1986. I moved back home to Thomasville, Georgia and began working as a Superintendent for Pascua – Florida Corporation of Tallahassee. After two years of superintendent experience I began my own framing crew, and from there D.F. Fletcher Construction was born.
I worked towards gaining my contractors license for Georgia and Florida, and I specialized in custom, southern homes while still running my own framing company. I contracted several impressive custom homes as well as a spec home in Thomasville in the early 90s.
By the end of 1994, I had a thriving contracting business and a growing family with 4 kids under the age of 8. I made a decision during this time of my children’s lives to spend as much time with them as possible. This meant decreasing the amount of time spent contracting custom homes and focusing mainly of framing for other contractors.
Fast-forward to 2010, my kids are grown – 1 graduated from college, 2 in college, and 2 in high school (if you’re doing the math, you see that is one additional kid. This includes the 16 year old we adopted in 2010.). Contracting opportunities began to surface, and I decided that it was the right time for Fletcher Construction to return to custom home building.
Here we are now. My family is as big as ever with 3 married (2 with kids) and 2 living their young adult lives. Having adult kids allows me the opportunity to build more custom homes in Georgia and Florida. Thomasville is a historic area, and it has been equally as great to venture into restoration of historic homes in Thomasville and Thomas Country & to become part of that interest in our community.
Project Manager/Superintendent
JAKE FLETCHER
I graduated from Clemson University in 2014 with a degree in Civil Engineering. During my college summers, I interned with Cives Steel in Thomasville, GA as a Drafting Department Intern and Project Management Intern where I learned the ins and outs of the company.
When I graduated in 2014, I accepted a job at Cives as a Project Manager where I worked for 6 years. While at Cives, I managed multiple projects as General Contractors’ main point of contact for structural steel, directed material flow through shop to main the project schedule and customer needs, as well as generated profit/loss statements and Cost to Come Reports on a monthly basis.
During the 2020 pandemic, the Cives Steel Thomasville branch was forced to close which brought my wife and I to bit of a cross roads. My options for a job were to either move across the country or continue working in Thomasville for another company that I wasn’t super thrilled about. That was until my father offered me the job to work along side him and manage his countless projects.
Stay in Thomasville and work for a business that I knew and had a great reputation in the South Georgia area? That was too good of a deal to pass up. In September of 2020, I officially began my job as Project Manager and Superintendent for Fletcher Construction.
My time with the company has been nothing short of amazing. The clients we get to build for and the sub contractors we get to work with truly make the Fletcher Construction name a big one.
